FAQs

How is this different from other meditation techniques?

Other meditations may require focus and ask you to clear your mind of thoughts - a Being meditation is the opposite.  We understand that thoughts are a natural process of stress release and play an important role. This meditation uses a universal mantra that teaches you to effortlessly transcend and de-excite the mind to drift into a deep state of Being. There is no controlling, no resisting and no concentration.

What are the benefits of meditation?

A regular meditation practice can have many benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, increasing energy and vitality, becoming more adaptable to life changes and experiencing a greater sense of happiness.  Meditation has been proven to increase dopamine and serotonin, reduces adrenaline and cortisol and significantly reduces stress and fatigue. Meditation moves you out of a fight or flight state (sympathetic nervous system) and into a relaxation state (parasympathetic nervous system).

I've never meditated before, will I be able to learn?

Learning this meditation doesn't require any prior knowledge of experience, we would love to have you.

I've tried to meditate before but my mind was too busy, I couldn't stop thinking.

That's no problem - it's not about being still or having a 'clear mind'. Thoughts are welcome and not something we are trying to avoid, the same goes for sitting still. If you are uncomfortable, we just adjust and there is no judgement.  This meditation technique is designed for people with busy minds, it's easy and automatic with the correct instruction.

Can you teach me in my own space?

Yes, if you would like to book a private course, a course with family or maybe you want to learn with friends before a big life transition like a baby or a wedding, please get in contact.

How many people are in the courses?

They are small and intimate so that we can really dive deep into your own personal questions. There are around 4-8 people per course.

Surfing / running / playing music is my meditation, do I need to learn?

Activities that allow you to be in the 'flow state' are great for some downtime from the daily pressures of life, they are meditative, but not meditation. You can feel relaxed in a particular moment, but they don't dissolve the level of stress and fatigue that meditation does. Learning to meditate is an incredible way to increase clarity, creativity and energy - which means you will get more out of your hobbies!

How long will it take to see the benefits?

They will begin from your first meditation and are cumulative over time. Most people report feeling more relaxed, calmer and have more energy in the first week. Some see it unfold more gradually. Everyone is different and has a different level of stress and fatigue to release.

Is this a religion?

No. The 1 Giant Mind Being Meditation is a simple technique designed to give the body and mind a deep level of rest. You don't need to believe anything to practice. People from different religions and cultures practice this technique.

Can I learn when I'm pregnant?

Yes and we highly encourage it. When caring for two people and going through a huge physical and mental change, high-quality rest is incredibly beneficial. There is a specific program of practice during this time, so please let us know when you sign up.
